Why We Walk
Though participants walk for varied reasons, the purpose is the same… to educate the general public about sickle cell disease, to stomp out sickle cell disease through education, research and advocacy through the support of Howard University Center for Sickle Cell Disease and Faces of our Children, Inc.
There are over 2,000 adults and children living with sickle cell disease and over 115,000 more with related conditions in our region.
The mission of the SOS Walk is simple, it is to increase awareness of sickle cell disease and raise money through various fun-filled activities that also encourage healthy lifestyles. Proceeds from the SOS Walk will benefit the Howard University Center for Sickle Cell Disease and Faces of Our Children, Inc.
